DIGITAL NATURE
The natural world and its virtual creation has become a continuing quest in the age of digital media. The Digital Art and Culture students from The City of Glasgow College participated in a project to explore this further. This required creating a number of 3-dimensional art works based on our experience of natural landscapes. In order to gain significant experience of this kind of environment the class visited the dramatic landscape of North Uist, in September 2016.
The class encountered barren and a diverse terrain. This formed the basis of our research. This special place provided not only the inspiration behind the work, but also the opportunity as the venue to display it. Once we had returned to Glasgow, we created 3-Dimensional models of the sculptural forms, animated the models and then re-experienced our sculptures through Virtual Reality technology.
Presented here is some documentation of the trip and the work that followed. The models were created on 3D Max software.
